The continuation of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be available in just five months. After leaving Midgar in a very different way than we did in the original, this role-playing and action game for PlayStation 5 has a lot to offer. Although changes compared to the 1997 game are inevitable, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will also feature many locations, characters, and situations that will faithfully replicate, more or less, those of the original JRPG.
The second part of the remake will recreate the events up until reaching the Forgotten City, which is equivalent to the end of the first disc of the original game. This means that there will be many unseen moments in Rebirth, just like in the first Remake, where the content was expanded from five hours to over 35. It is expected that this PS5 game will have a duration of over 100 hours and will come on two physical Blu-ray discs.
At the Tokyo Game Show 2023, Square Enix revealed some of the locations that we will be able to visit in Rebirth. In addition to Mount Nibel and Lower Junon, which we already knew thanks to a playable demo, the Grasslands Area, Junon City, Gold Saucer, and other locations that will be compared to the original game are also included.
One of the highlights of Rebirth will be the open world areas, where players will be able to engage in various activities such as completing contracts, investigating locations to unlock rewards, participating in battles to activate challenges in the simulator, collecting materials to create items, and activating tower-like structures similar to Assassin’s Creed’s viewpoints. Players will also be able to access ranches where they can customize their chocobos, participate in races, and explore the environment in search of resources.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available on February 29, 2024, for PS5. Unlike the first Remake, this second part will not have additional content or DLC.
