Lima Metro Targets 2018 Completion For Important Line 4 Project
Deputy Transport Minister Henry Zaira, this week discussed the impact of Lima Metro’s new Line 4 project, which will connect Lima with Callao and will benefit over 500,000 residents.
During his presentation to the congressional committee on Transport and Communications, Mr. Zaira explained that the new project will provide key benefits to residents of the Oquendo, Marquez, 200 millas Mi Perú and Pachacútec areas of the city.
He explained that the work, which features a light rail and a tram system, will cover 22.65km and will be completed in 2018.
It was noted that the expansion of the rail transport network has many components, including the construction of a tunnel below the Jorge Chavez International Airport (Avenue Gambetta), subways trenches, viaducts, bridges, sidings, workshops, warehouse, offices and headquarters.
Zaira added that every project has been and will continue to be analyzed by the Agency for Promotion of Private Investment (ProInversión), and that he believes that the projects will provide great benefit to the people in Callao and will be a stimulus for economic growth in the areas served by the new passenger lines.
