Modernization and refurbishment works on Line 1 of the Venezuelan capitals metro network have been advancing well, according to Haiman El Troudi, minister of land transport and public works.
“There is good progress on rail replacement in Chacaítometro, Caracas. We are working without hold-ups”, El Troudi confirmed, via his official twitter account (@HaimanVZLA).
The modernization, which are made in the Chacaíto station, will mean a smoother and faster service, the minister reported at the commencement of the work in Caracas.
The works will include the replacement of track and connections between sections of rail, works maintenance which is considered urgent and necessary following years of service. The cost of the materials necessary for the maintenance is estimated to be around two million dollars.
During the works, Metro de Caracas have organised 180 rail replacement buses (Metrobus) which cover two routs; a direct connection from Zona Rental to Chacao statio a via Av. Libertador and the second from Zona Rental to Sabana Grande, Chacaito and Chacao.
Line 1 has continued to operate from Propatria to Plaza Venezuela and Chacao to Palo Verde. La Sabana Grande has also remained open, although it only serves a limited route to Plaza Venezuela.
